Today I came to have a conversation. I’m not sure who I’m here to have a conversation with today,...
Life of A Soldier
Today I want to talk about what it means to live a life as one of God’s soldiers.
Standing Firm in Faith: Battling Life’s Challenges as a Soldier of God
As a soldier of God, you often carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. As a soldier of God, you often put others needs before your own. As a soldier of God, You can expect great storms. Sometimes so overwhelming they feel like tsunamis meant to take you out the game. It’s important to acknowledge the stress and burnout that you feel as a soldier of God is valid, but its even more important that you understand that storms in your life are designed for you and only you. As the saying goes, “God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers,” and He will never give you a battle you can’t win.
Emerging Stronger: Personal Growth Through Life’s Storms
In my own experience, I’ve learned that all the tough times and storms are designed to make you stronger. They are designed to make you wiser. They are designed to make you better, much better than you were before entering the storm. This year I came face to face with a storm that brought me to my knees and I was on the verge of giving up, but It made me who I am today and is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me. My storm taught me three big lessons. I want to share them with you in hopes that you see how God is working for and on you, even when you feel like your prayers are going unanswered.
Unveiling True Strength: Harnessing Creativity & Resilience Amidst Life’s Storms
The first lesson I learned is that the storm reveals who you truly are and what you’re made of. As Martin Luther King said, “The true measure of a man is not how he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but how he stands in times of challenge and controversy.” In June, I left my six-figure sales job to pursue my vision of working for myself full-time. With 3 months’ savings and a few deals lined up, I thought I had everything planned out. But everything went wrong—those deals fell through and I invested most of my savings into the start up of the business, leaving me with no money for bills or marketing. The real problem is that the banks, creditors, and bill collectors don’t care what you’re going through. They want their money and they will keep calling you until they get it. I found myself asking tough questions: Should I give up? Compromise my character? How will I continue to market my business with no money for marketing? In times of crisis, you find yourself the most creative. To make ends meet, I was living off a facebook market place side hustle. And with no marketing budget, I started creating content to get in coming business.
Unveiling The Strength Found in Adversity
Going through my storm taught me a second lesson: it shows you who’s really there for you. Like Drake says, “It’s crazy how you gotta wait until it’s dark out to see who really wit ya.” Hard times reveal who’s with you through thick and thin. It was tough to see some people I admired turn away, but it also opened my eyes to who had my back all along—God and others like me. It humbled me, too. I’ve always been the one helping others, so admitting I needed help was hard. For a while, I tried to hide my struggles, but I learned that some battles aren’t meant to be fought alone. Twice during my storm, God sent people to help me financially without me even asking. Without their support, I might’ve lost the fight in my mind.
Transforming Trials: How Adversity Fuels Personal Growth & Shifts Perspectives
After learning who I am and what I am made of and seeing who was in my corner, the last lesson came to me. The storm is designed to change your perspective on life. It wasn’t until I went through my storm, where I saw how good God has been to me and how he was working on me in the storm. Before learning my lesson, I felt I could accomplish anything I wanted on my own and honestly idolized myself. I needed to be humbled. I needed to be shown that I could fail and that was okay for someone else to help me. In the time of being broke, no money in my accounts type broke, I learned the difference between my wants and my needs. I live a much simpler life now and I can genuinely say I love who I see in the mirror. I’ve also gained a stronger compassion for serving others.
A life changing storm comes with the territory of being a soldier of God, but its those tough times that make you into the person you are meant to be. If you are that someone out there that’s going through a storm that feels never ending, I challenge you to seek out the lessons that are designed for you to learn. I hope sharing the lessons from my storm gave you the insight needed to get through your storm and give you the strength to start fighting back at life.
Love you guys, see you next week!
